OUR PARTNERS

PMIEF

The PMI Educational Foundation educates and equips our students to be effective Project Managers.

The philanthropic, non-profit arm of the Project Management Institute, the PMI Educational Foundation (PMIEF) has empowered young people around the world with essential project management skills for over 35 years.

Project Management enables teams to communicate, collaborate, and stay on track throughout the competition.

Working together since 2020, PMIEF has integrated project management principles into the STEM Racing curriculum. Through this partnership, we have developed the Project Management Guide which provides students with everything they need to know to ensure success is achieved both within and beyond the competition.

skills For Life

Project management may not leap to your mind when you think of the action-packed world of F1®, but its application is crucial to ensuring teams stay on task, deliver on time, and work within those all-important cost caps. Our partnership with PMIEF helps students to learn and understand the impact project management has in the motorsport industry, and beyond.

With project management now embedded into every category of the competition, together, we’re ensuring that students are taught the principles of the discipline, before putting them into practice across their project, and showcasing their learnings and workings at competitions.

  • Primary: A Unit of Work explains the basic principles of project management and how to apply them.

  • Entry: The Project Management Guide is provided to all students for independent learning.

  • Development: Teams demonstrate how they have put principles into practice in their Enterprise Portfolio.

  • Professional: Teams follow, use, and evidence Project Management processes in their Enterprise Portfolio.

Making An Impact

Together, PMIEF and STEM Racing are inspiring and educating students around the world in the principles and practices of project management. By applying these skills in a real-world, competitive environment, students gain valuable experience in planning, teamwork, leadership, communication, and problem-solving. This hands-on approach is helping to develop the next generation of project professionals, with 84% of participating students now considering a career in the field, and many STEM Racing alumni already pursuing successful careers in project management and related industries.

“I found the pMIEF handbook extremely useful as it introduced me to industry-standard project management tools and frameworks. It helped me structure my team’s work more effectively using tools such as Gantt charts, risk analysis, and responsibility matrices, which we applied directly throughout the competition.”

– Erina Wan Zul, STEM Racing alum, PMIEF Ambassador and Youth Board Member for The Earth Prize
