Live Scrutineering
Where the competition begins, scrutineering sets the standard at the Aramco STEM Racing World Finals. Precision is everything - millimetres matter, milligrams count, and all those hours of testing and iterative design? This is the moment they truly pay off.
This year, our students had the chance to experience the scrutineering process firsthand as our expert judging team inspected every detail of their creations, using Mitutoyo's industry-leading tools. Teams gained a deeper understanding of how scrutineering is carried out, what metrology looks like in practice, and, most importantly, how their cars quite literally measured up.
Four-Lane Racing
The iconic STEM Racing track had more than a new look at the event, it had a full redesign. Ushering in the era of four-lane racing and delivering double the action in half the time – perfect for keeping our jam-packed schedule on track – this show-stopping piece of equipment went down a storm at the event. With more teams competing at once, the stakes were higher, tensions were heightened, excitement levels through the roof. And we loved every minute of it.
The speeds on show from our students were truly impressive and, with an incredible track time of 1.118 seconds, Lunar was a worthy winner of the Fastest Car Award at this year's STEM Racing World Finals.
World Champions
Lunar, a team of five from Australia - Max, Leo, Max, Oliver and Liam - truly wowed the judges. Performing exceptionally well across all elements - from design to engineering, they went above and beyond to create a car that was beyond impressive in its construction and secure the coveted World Champions title.
Alongside first place, Lunar also secured the Best Engineered Car Award supported by Atlassian Williams Racing, the Fastest Car Award supported by Mercedes AMG-PETRONAS F1 Team and two of its members - Liam and Max - were selected for the Komatsu-Williams Racing Academy. We call that a successful trip to Singapore.
STEM Racing Stars
There’s no better reward for our incredible students than the chance to meet their Formula 1 heroes - and at this event, we were fortunate to be joined by some of the sport’s most respected figures.
From Pedro de la Rosa, racing legend and Global Ambassador for the Aston Martin Formula 1 Team, to Paul Monaghan, Chief Engineer at Oracle Red Bull Racing, and Randeep Singh, Racing Director at McLaren Racing, our students had the extraordinary opportunity to interact with those at the very top of the F1 world.
These industry leaders generously took the time to engage with our teams, explore their projects, and offer insights and encouragement, and we couldn’t be more thankful.
Thank you, singapore
Set against the backdrop of glorious Singapore, this year’s competition was filled with unforgettable moments. One we know we'll remember for the longest time was our famous Pit Lane Walk which saw all 434 students visit the iconic Marina Bay Circuit.
With a storm taking place just moments before our students walked down the main straight to gather for this iconic shot, we couldn’t have timed its taking better - the rain cleared, the paths dried, and our teams refused to let anything as small as weather dampen their spirits. Gathering together under the Singapore Grand Prix gantry, their smiles made it clear just how much they have enjoyed their time together in this beautiful country, and what a perfect way to bring it to a close.
