New era for aramco stem racing world finals
The countdown has begun for the Aramco STEM Racing World Finals 2025, and a bold new chapter for the world’s most prestigious STEM education competition. Reimagined and rebranded from the globally recognised F1 in Schools, this year’s event will not only celebrate a rich 20-year legacy - it will also crown the very first Aramco STEM Racing World Champions.
From 27 September to 2 October, the global spotlight will shine on Sentosa Island, Singapore, as over 80 student teams from across more than 30 nations gather to compete at the cutting edge of creativity, engineering, and enterprise. From designing and engineering the fastest miniature Formula 1-inspired race car to showcasing excellence in marketing, teamwork, and project management, these student teams will be vying for the World Champions crown. And this year, the World Finals are shifting into an even higher gear.
For the first time ever, the World Finals will feature four-lane racing, a spectacular evolution from the traditional head-to-head duels of past Finals. Now, four teams will line up side-by-side, their miniature race cars primed for a simultaneous launch that promises twice the adrenaline and four times the spectacle.
This game-changing innovation introduces new technical and mental challenges, especially for the drivers who must stay laser-focused on a single set of lights while flanked by three rival competitors. Nerves of steel and split-second timing will be tested like never before.
In another landmark moment, this will be the largest STEM Racing World Finals in history, with more than 80 teams qualifying through rigorous national competitions. Included in the 33 countries competing will be first-time contenders from Costa Rica, having recently introduced STEM Racing to schools in the country.
Technical regulation changes include a reduction in minimum car weight and the introduction of legal ballast, and minor adjustments to the Formula 1 model car dimensions.
Andrew Denford, Founder and Chairman, STEM Racing, says, “Every year, I say the World Finals will be the biggest and best yet and every year, the teams prove me right. But 2025 truly marks a transformative moment for STEM Racing. With the debut of our custom-designed four-lane track, we’re adding an entirely new layer of excitement and complexity to the competition. It’s a visual and technical spectacle, made possible by the incredible scale of this year’s event, with over 90 teams competing from around the globe.
“Welcoming new countries like Costa Rica to the Finals is always one of the most rewarding parts of our work. Expanding our global reach means more students from diverse backgrounds can experience this life-changing journey - building friendships across borders, sharing cultures, and connecting through a shared passion for STEM.”
